Azure Cosmos DB: Lessons learnt from the frontline

Azure Cosmos DB is a fantastic PaaS service that allows developers to work with a NoSQL database that can scale globally in no time at all.

But despite being a PaaS service, it's not quite as hands off as you might think/want. Many developers get frustrated with the service due to a lack of understanding of key concepts, such as throughput, data modelling, partitioning and just give up on the service.

At ASB Bank, we have worked with Cosmos DB for almost 2 years, so in this session, I will share with you what we've learnt about Cosmos DB in our development (both good and bad!), how to effectively integrate it with other technologies in Azure (Such as Functions, Event Hubs, Log Analytics, vNET etc) and how you can use these tricks and tips when developing your applications for Cosmos DB.
